Description

The invaders slammed the cortcullis with their blunt, iron-headed ram as flaming arrows and hot tar poured from above. The chains to the drawbridge were cut, but the wood itself was catching fire and the invaders knew they had limited time to break the portcullis. Men fell to the archers above, but as fast as they fell, another raced in to join. With a roar, they put a final heave into the ram and blew out the hinges. Through the blaze, the invaders entered the Kingdom from High Gate.
