The Norman Stone Fort is a multi-storied stonework building suitable for wargames and RPGs. You can lift off each level to reveal a fully sculpted interior with opening doors and ladders. The Norman Fort makes for great blocking terrain for games like Kings of War and A Song of Fire and Ice.

5 questions for Norman Stone Fort

  1. Stuart Dobson (verified owner)

I’m getting “Slicer failed with an unexpected error” when trying to slice Norman-Stone-Fort-Lv1.1.stl. Cura 5.1. Using recommended settings. Any ideas?

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

This does not show errors in the earlier version of Cura or on our Prusa Slicer.

  2. seitoheiwa (verified owner)

Under Norman-Stone-Fort-Lv3-v1.3 are some artifacts, that prevent this awesome model to be printed flat.

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

Thanks for pointing this out. I see that this is due to the ends of the ladder so have sent this to the modeler to be fixed.

  3. Stuart Dobson (verified owner)

Jo Boorer- Could you let me know which version of Cura you used so I can try that.

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

      Ultimaker Cura 4.8.0

  4. mallekith (verified owner)

I have the same issue as Stuart in Cura 5.1.0, however I get the error when slicing Fort-Lv3-v1.4. I did not have this issue when slicing Fort-Lv3-1.3 in Cura v5.

  5. Stuart Dobson (verified owner)

Thanks for info Cura 4.8.0 seems to work OK

  6. James Cline (verified owner)

Love this model. If you ever feel the desire to expand it I have 2 ideas.

    1. Another level 2 but replace the door with a window. This would allow for variable heights just by adding additional levels.

    2. Combine the two roof pieces into one and add an opening in the parapet wall between the two areas. This piece (minus the original level 3) on top of the 2nd lavel would allow for a flat roof.

Neither of these are needed at all. It is an awesome model as is. They are just a couple of ideas I had as I was printing it out.

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

Thanks for your suggestions. I will pass them on.

  7. IanSomeRandomNumber (verified owner)

Some of the architectural details seem a little off. The narrow openings don’t always have lintels and the wider openings don’t have arches made of wedge-shaped blocks of stone.
You’ll see these on photos of actual castles because they’re needed to support the weight of all the stone above them.

  8. richard.lierman (verified owner)

For some reason, my lvl 1 and lvl 2 dont line up all that great on the pegs, but I just chopped the back two pegs off and it fits well enough.

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

Can you please send a photo of this issue to [email protected] as we are unable to replicate this issue here.

  9. Carsten Rahbek (verified owner)

This is a great model. It works really well with the “stone and mortar” painting approach.
I printed it (mostly) in small parts, and they assembled really well.

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

      Thanks for your feedback

  10. louanders (verified owner)

Have a hard time slicing these models in Cura 5.0. I see above folks having trouble with 5.1. Is 5.2 any better?

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

We have not tried 5.2. We are still using 4.8.

  11. mgarciamartin88

Hello I have a question, I do not know very well how to use brackets on my computer and printer, if I buy this model is without brackets?

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

By Brackets, do you mean supports?
If so, this model does not require support when FDM is printed but will require support for resin printing.
This model does not come with pre-support for resin printing, but is you contact me at [email protected], I can walk you through how to add support.

  12. bhubbard491 (verified owner)

Great model! I printed this up at 33% to use in my Warmaster games (10mm). Everything printed fine and the pieces mated up nicely together.

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

That’s great. Thanks for the feedback.

  13. Michael Blough (verified owner)

Where are the files for the cloisters located? not in the zip when i download?

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

These are in a separate folder in the zip file.

  14. Jarod Vodak (verified owner)

Love this series and was wondering if the cloister and roof could be made in reverse to be facing inwards like into a courtyard in the corner of a couple building?

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

Hi Jarod, thanks for your suggestion. I will forward this request to our updates list.
