Description

The guard saw the rider approaching the Westgate from atop the battlement. They bore the Kingdom’s colours and rode in confidently, expecting the drawbridge to lower over the moat. The guard, however, had an awful feeling in their gut about this rider, something about their scruffy beard and eager grin.

1 question for Westgate Drawbridge

  1. Bluestone

WOW! 🙂 another great addition! just a quick question what do you use as chain and what is the needed size? thanks!

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

Thanks for your great feedback. We used a 1.5mm jewelers chain.

  2. Bluestone

about the scale : you wrote that at 100% it is for 32mm figs, but it works well at 100% for 28mm ones too remember that we have also 3mm base.

  3. joshua.rouleau (verified owner)

Will this eventually be integrated with the Wild River, in the same way the Culvert was?

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

The Westgate Drawbridge is designed to go over a river. Where the culvert has a river running through it.

  4. joshua.rouleau (verified owner)

I understand that, it was more that the drawbridge sits flat on the ground, so anything representing a river also needs to be exactly flat as well. I’ve managed to mock up in my slicer something that works by cutting and raising the drawbridge connectors to above the ‘river’ level of the Wild river. Then using the High Gate Bridge Landing with quite a bit of the bottom cut away, and finally removing the top layer of the middle section of the banks to accommodate the drawbridge / landing.

Thinking beyond just that gate section would lead to issues trying to navigate the river around towers and any non 45/90 turns.

Which leads to a final suggestion, I’d happily pay an extra $20 for a SystemHex based river, especially if it came with two different widths (stream and river) as well as junctions (perhaps including splits for the various arches in the bridges available.
