11 questions for Singularity Engine

  1. mdchickenbob (verified owner)

Is there a hollowed out version of this to save on filament and storage space?

    • Sam Campbell (verified owner)

There is no hollowed out version. It’s something we may have a look at in the future, at recommended infill size of 10% you’re not saving much on filament anyway. At 5% infill with the additional interior wall the difference is negligable.

  2. kagbb (verified owner)

I don’t see how the complete globus could print without support?

    • Matt Barker

There is a reference sheet for the Small Printer version included in the zip file. I’ll also upload a large version that is cut through the middle for printing.

  3. Anthony Garcia (verified owner)

Could we get it split into levels please? I can’t fit the whole thing on my print bed, but the level 1 and 2 should fit just fine.

    • Sam Campbell (verified owner)

Yes, we can get these into split levels.

  4. hencoo72 (verified owner)

thanks for splitting the globus into 2 halves… But they are not perfectly level (for layer 1 it is printing about half of it, layer 2 gets to most (but a lot printed in mid air) and layer 3 it finishes trying to print it all or starts making spaghetti.

    • Sam Campbell (verified owner)

The Globus model was off tilt and has been rotated to build plate and zeroed. You will be able to re-download.

  5. ryanphillips1991 (verified owner)

For me the singularity engine at 10% infill is saying over 1kg of filament!?!
I attempted to hollow using Chitubox, and the print time is now longer but obviously saved on filament.

Would you be able to prepare appropriately hollowed versions so i know it should print right?

The printing times and amount of filament seem way high for this set.

    • Sam Campbell (verified owner)

Thank you for the suggestion of hollowing out the model. It is something we will have a look in the future. It is a very large model. You can try shrinking it or lowering the infill to 5% if you are worried about filament.

  6. daniel.bencic22 (verified owner)

Got a problem with Singularity-Engine-Globus-Half-B-V1.1. It doesnt seem to be sitting level on the bed. One side of the model is just a mill out so its only making a brim for half the model then failing on the other half

    • Sam Campbell (verified owner)

This has been reoriented and uploaded again. You can re-download the file.

  7. jrepine1 (verified owner)

Is there something I’m missing? I’ve loaded up the Lv1-A, Lv1-B, Lv1-C, and Lv1-D – and B & C are about 40mm wider than A & D. I also have the same whole level slice just to compare (it’s shorter and longer).

    • Nicholas Jebson (verified owner)

The B and C sections are round the wrong way, if you rotate them 90 degrees and swap their positions you will find that they line up with B slotting in behind A and C slotting in behind D.

  8. jrepine1 (verified owner)

Also, once printed, the levels don’t line up. I have the Bottom and 1/2 the middle and whole top printed, and the middle section does no line up with the other 2.

    • Nicholas Jebson (verified owner)

Any chance you can send us some pics to [email protected] to see how far they are out in that mid section? we will be able to help you better with some visual aids like you did before.

  9. jrepine1 (verified owner)

Actually, the previous answer fixed all my issues, I am feeling rather dumb right now. Thanks for the help.

    • Nicholas Jebson (verified owner)

There are never any dumb questions jrepine, as long as we can help you get the best out of your prints. Enjoy.

  10. Kn8t (verified owner)

Can anyone confirm whether or not the Globus can actually print without supports?
    Whether its half or smaller?
    Thanks.

    • Mike

      Hi Kn8t,
The complete globus you would have to print with supports on an FDM printer. The two halves will print fine without supports.

  11. jonathan.weismann (verified owner)

Globus Half A has the same problem that B did back in the day. It is .5mm higher on one half than the other side. The only way to print it is by lowering the print by .5mm down. A brim is not applied across the whole part otherwise.

Please fix and upload a new change. This was tested on Cura 4.11
