Description
The tower shook with each crashing explosion, dust and debris cascading down. The serf quickened their pace, sensing her time was running out. As she climbed, clambered, and scurried up the tower, she could see out the bay windows that the kingdom was in flames. As she approached the top, light poured into the tower, and she quickly saw the entire battlement had been obliterated. Quickly, she looked around the rubble on the top floor for any sign of life. There in the corner, under a wooden beam, she saw the old man, limp but still clutching the book tight. She tenderly approached him and crouched down. Then she snatched the book out of his arms and turned and ran, a smile on the thief’s lips.
