The HEX Castle Oval Bastion is a large building that adds defensive outposts along your HEX Castle Walls. They also add visual variety by breaking up the walls. The roof sections are removable so you can decorate and play inside. They fit alongside the HEX Castle Walls and come in three different HEX tesselations.

Description

The guards huddled around the fireplace, grateful for warmth in their patrol duty’s early hours. It had been weeks since they’d seen anything on these walls that would even remotely be described as a threat. But out of what little sense of duty he had, Paul swept his eyes over the horizon and across the nearby forest. Nothing. As usual. Or wait, was it? What was that? A deer? No too tall. And just as he saw it it darted off behind the trees. Probably nothing, he thought. Paul needed some rest.

I keep getting an error message when trying to extract the files for this one. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi Can you please send a screen shot to [email protected] and we can check that out for you

It would be so nice if you would add more levels to build higher towers 🙂

Thanks for your suggestion. I will add this to update request list.

Hello, can we consider another type of roof? For example, with battlements like for HEX Castle Keep Tower with its Hex-Tower-Keep-Battlement-v2.2.stl

Thanks for your suggestion. I will add this to the list update requests.

The oval bastion is the only one-piece castle building. Printing 3 full bastions just to get 120, 180, or 240 seems like a lot to me. I think a more modular system like HEX Castle Barracks or HEX Castle Keep Tower, with 3 levels and adapters would be super cool!

I like this but im keeping of printing it due its one piece i hope it will be made with mutiple floors there is no need to have swapable windos but at least one lvl below for some small window mb or just to separate into two pieces and have one playeble lvl below for armory or resting place for patrols

    • Matt Barker

Hi Lukaell, we do have the round bastions they will be similar size to the oval bastion and they will have the sliders. When we designed the oval bastion we couldn’t get it to look good and also have the swapable connections, so we went for locking in the battlement connections.

Question! If I want to use these with low walls, would cutting the bottom off be an option – or would that cause issues? What height are low walls usually (so I know what height to cut at)?

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

You can do this. We did not create a low wall version as they does not look right at this height. I would suggest taking the low wall into meshmixer at the same time as the oval bastion is in there to line the cut up before cutting. Here is an article to assist you with the cut. https://www.printablescenery.com/2021/10/18/how-to-planecut-your-models/

I ended up cutting it at 50mm & printing both the top and bottom bits separately. This worked wonders as it now fits both tall and short walls depending on my needs! Would highly recommend to anyone that is also looking for a bit more modularity & honestly, I might just start doing this with all buildings and walls that visually allow for it 🤯
