The captain stood atop South Gate, gazing over the rugged plains leading beyond the horizon. From here, they could see any invaders from miles away, and even if they got here, they couldn’t breach this gate. The stairs leading up would stop any battering ram tactic, and the doors were double-reinforced with steel. The perfect gate, he thought.
