The HEX Castle Barracks is a well-fortified building that can be used alongside the HEX Castle Walls or standalone. This multi-level building contains each floor separately, options for a balcony to connect to HEX Castle Walls, stair and window options, ladders, functional doors, corbels, and buttresses for when it isn’t connected to a wall. Being square means, you can also create a square keep by connecting four. It also includes the connectors for attaching the Barracks to the HEX Castle Walls.

This product is delivered as a .ZIP file pack containing 3d printer files (STL files) for use on a home 3D Printer.

Description

The captain woke to the shouting of guards outside. He swiftly adorned his armor in a well-practiced routine and pulled his sword off the wall. As he did so, he looked out the arrowslit window in the barracks and toward the fields and forests beyond. Hundreds of torches stood out from the night time vista before him. With a grim smile, he strode out, ready to command the defenses and eager for a fight.

8 questions for HEX Castle Barracks

  1. johnjackwalsh (verified owner)

I have noticed that the connecting pegs for the stone corbels included with the Square Bastion are a little narrower and taller than other corbels, leading them to stick out slightly and wobble around.

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

Hi, thanks for pointing this out the correct corbel has now been added.

  2. Landhund (verified owner)

Would it be possible to add a trapdoor variant of the second barracks level similar to what the Square Bastion or HEX Tower have so that the basement section of the barracks is “accessible”? Would be a shame to waste the potentially valuable floorspace.

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

Thanks for your great suggestion. I will added this to our request list.

  3. norbini (verified owner)

In version 2.7, I’m a bit confused about which corbel is supposed to attach to Hex-Square-Bastion-Lv3-v2.3?
I was assuming that Hex-Square-Bastion-Corbel-v1.3 would be the one used, but it has a diamond, not round key.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

  4. norbini (verified owner)

    Oops, ignore me. :-/
I hadn’t printed anything so was looking at the preview in Finder (MacOS) and got confused by the scale. Having tried a mock-up in Blender, I see that the corbel’s diamond fits into a cylindrical slot on the Lv3 piece.
Really excited to get these printed out. Great campaign, thanks!

  5. Zagor (verified owner)

An interesting option would be to have a roof with battlements (same as Hex-Tower-Keep-Battlement) as an alternative to the tiled roof.

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

Great minds think alike. This option is coming in another product from Throne and Ash.

I’m seconding this. It feels odd to have a huge area that just cant be accessed at all.

This update that was made last week so is now available in the download.

  7. redanto (verified owner)

So I am having issues with getting the Corbel to fit the square bastion. I have sanded a ton and still not fitting. Still not sure why the hole is round and the corbel is diamond. IMO i should not have to spend hours of sanding to make something fit.

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

Hi, could you please message me at [email protected] with details of which corbel version you are using and if it is resin or FDM printed.

  8. redanto (verified owner)

So not sure what corbel v1.4 is for. I printed 1.4 and will not fit. However v1.3 does fit.

    • Joanne Boorer (verified owner)

We had reports that the corbel was too loose so suppled a tighter fitting option. The fit depends on printer settings being used.
