The Observatory is a fantasy-styled building that can be used for role-playing or tabletop war games. Featuring moving cogs and telescope, hinged doors, removable roofs and multiple storeys, it prints without supports as separate levels. Also included are pieces for printing on a smaller printer bed.

Description

On the darkest and clearest Winterdale nights, the air buzzes with the slow grind of massive gears, as scholars move their massive telescope. Night after night they search, always searching for the secrets hidden in the stars.

(version 5.1) Contains an updated version of the ground floor.stl.
21 April 2017 (version 5.2) Contains the solid version of the observatory.
21 July 2017 (version 5.3) Small mesh repair to WDObservatory5.1-smprt-secondfloor-window.
11th August 2017 (version 5.4) The base has been flattened on the WDObservatory5.1-first floor.
10 May 2018 (version 5.8) observatory levels have been made stackable.
30 April 2019 (version 6.0) new stone texture and gears and telescope are moveable.
26 November 2019 (version 6.1) Solid options added.

Recommended Printer	FDM or resin printer
Infill	10% to 15% for most parts but increase to 20% for thin upright parts such as door frames for added strength
Layer Height	0.05 high quality on resin printers, .2 for Normal Quality .1 for High Quality (.2 Layer height is recommended)
Supports	requires supports for resin printing, Prints without Supports

mm is the height based on the measurement from the bottom of the feet to the eye height of the average human
Height is not the same as Base Size (A 28mm miniature will often have a 25mm round base)

how do you recommend connecting the gear and balcony to the tower?

  Either superglue or a high strength epoxy glue. This is one of our older models and this has highlighted some updates that we should look at doing. cheers.

What do you recommend using to join the 2 halves of the telescope? There are 2 location holes on each half but filament doesn’t fit inside the holes. The same for the balconies.
