What is OpenLOCK ?
OpenLOCK is a free, open-source system for connecting modular 3D printable terrain. It was originally developed by Printable Scenery (that’s us!) and is now used throughout the 3D printing and tabletop gaming community.
The system allows modelers and designers to create a huge variety of tiles, walls, floors, and other structures that can all lock together using a standardized clip system. This makes it reconfigurable, expandable, and compatible across different sets from ourselves and other creators.

At the core of OpenLOCK is the clips that are used to fasten the pieces in place. There are a few variations of the OpenLOCK clip, all with different purposes. You can find the latest version of each here.
OpenLOCK clips attach floor and wall tiles together, but for stacking vertically there are top-locking pins which simply slot into each other. This makes them sturdy but easy to lift off level in the middle of gameplay.

The complete set of OpenLOCK templates are freely available for download, which means that anyone with 3D design skills can create compatible components that interconnect. This versatility means that if you buy an OpenLOCK compatible model, it will connect with any other OpenLOCK compatible model.

If you’re a 3D designer, you can download the OpenLOCK templates directly from Thingiverse or from here and start designing OpenLOCK compatible parts. This can range from floor and wall tiles, to statues, traps, portals, you can create a lot within the realms of OpenLOCK.

When using OpenLOCK you have the freedom to expand into other territories too, like in our Cities of Ramshackle and Ruin range, where the city foundations are made using OpenLOCK, but the buildings above are free standing. You can do the same with the likes of Throne & Ash, where a mighty caste and its walls sit above ground, but below is a sprawling dungeon made from OpenLOCK tiles.

We have designed hundreds of OpenLOCK compatible tiles as part of various campaigns. These range from sliding doors, falling traps, sewers, castles, and caverns right up to a range of sci-fi scenery.
If you have a home 3D printer you can purchase and download any og the OpenLOCK models from our website to print at home. Alternatively, contact one of our licensed printers to get any of our items 3D printed.
