Welcome to Throne & Ash, our ultimate 3D printable castle-building system powered by SystemHEX. It features fully modular, interlocking buildings that connect to walls and other structures.

‘Throne & Ash’ uses SystemHEX: All walls and buildings have a shared hexagonal connection, allowing them to be easily connected, swapped, and rearranged—making it simple to build your perfect modular castle.

The hexagon does not bind you—let your imagination roam free and conjure castles of every shape and size. Square towers also allow for Square Tesilation.

Interchangeable buttresses & walls allow you to attach any building to the walls simply by sliding out one of the buttresses and replacing it with a Castle Wall or a Building Expansion. This means each building can be either ‘stand-alone’ or connected to multiple walls and secondary structures.

Interchangeable doors, windows, and corbels: Customize your epic castle by mixing and matching pieces from different sets—whether it’s functional doors, arrow slits, or bay windows, just plug in the elements you need. You can also combine parts from other SystemHEX buildings to make your own unique designs.

The oval bastion is the only one-piece castle building. Printing 3 full bastions just to get 120, 180, or 240 seems like a lot to me. I think a more modular system like HEX Castle Barracks or HEX Castle Keep Tower, with 3 levels and adapters would be super cool!
What I truly love about these models is that, when I have a bit of filament left on a roll I just print a window plug or 2
and with a big box of these you change your buildings look in seconds!
No more left over filament!
well done PS!!
Thanks kagbb
I’d like to request the Ruined Count’s Keep / Ruined Count’s Tower & Ruined Barbican by September if possible. I’m putting together a board for my club and it would be nice to get those parts as you have released the rest I need already
No worries if you can’t.
Love this set it’s so versatile.
What is the time line on the cottages and shanty, I need one of those for a project in a week or 2 will they be available or do I need to look for a different model 🙂
We have one of the shanties ready for release next week, and then hopefully start releasing one every week or two
NICE! I need one for oathsworn and it would be just in time!
Sorry if this is has alrady benn addressed, I am trying to make a castle wall layout and on the castle gate wall Male side I want to add a square Bastion gate connector wall C but I do not see an option for a Female connector version to connect to the male connector
@Watcher, The Square tower cannot have the Female Connector type C and maintain Hex Tessellation
We hit 2000 \o/
Hey, we’re rolling out some updates to the Barracks this week, we’re going to add a full length battlement to go on the barracks, we’re adjusting the base level floor height to be in line with the other new updates, and we’re going to remove the gap at the floor between the battlement and the joining room
I am finding that the corbels for Ramshackle & Ruin still give a more secure fit than any of the corbels in Throne & Ash. I believe it comes down to 2 issues: 1) some of the “pegs” on the latest corbels have a smaller diameter, but more importantly: 2) all of the pegs’ “necks”, that is to say, the connection point between corbel and peg, are skinnier. This gives the corbels a lot of room for lateral wobble. On Ramshackle & Ruin these “necks” were pretty beefy, but every single “neck” in Throne & Ash is skinnier.
Of course this is the tiniest thing ever and you have a lot of bigger issues to worry about with upcoming models, or maybe you found an issue having thicker corbels from before, but I kept noticing this issue.
I might be wrong, but I don’t think the corbels are ment to be exchangeable, just printed upside-down so they look better.
And therefor might be glued.
If I look through the models they seem the same everywhere and if they would be ment to change they would have the same dimensions as the previous ones 🙂
but that is just my guess.
Agreed, this has been the question I have been struggling with as well, do I simply glue them in place and call it a day? I really like the idea of swapping out the corbels, but maybe that is just not realistic.
I’m having some trouble fitting the walls together once I print them. I sanded out the male side of the hex connectors and they are still being quite difficult to fit together. Any tips and tricks?
Mine fitted perfectly, do you maybe have elephants foot on your prints?
I see you have a how to for putting together the King’s Keep, but would it also be possible to add a list with what walls were used?
Yes as of next week we are going to show setups with each release
Will the ruins for the standalone towers (Hex, Square, Round) have options for damage that spans multiple levels?
Yes, each level is damaged and the roof is also damaged
The Earl’s Round Tower has now been unlocked
Thank you!!
I was soooo looking forward at those round buttresses and window plugs they look awesome!!
You folks are awesome 🙂
Yay – only 24 more to go for the ruined version!
YES, the counter hit 1975, is the offer still on do we unlock the earls round tower? 🙂 🙂
Are there any sets of internal stairs?
the HEX Castle Keep Tower, has internal stairs
Sorry I think I may be a bit dumb here but I can’t seem to find the files for the square bastion can anyone help me
the files are in the barraks file
Only 4 more people to the earls round tower 🙂
Thank you again for being so generous!!
Will this be compatible with your Terrain Tinker program? I would love to be able to pull out individual tiles from the castle to use as background on bases for the units I will have fighting around the castle.
Also, will the walls be able to accommodate Kings of War bases if we fight a siege?
Can the coals/flames in the blacksmith furnace be a separate part or have a version that is two parts so that the flames/coals can be printed in clear and LEDs added?
that would be very nice!
I just want to say I am amazed as always 🙂
There are overhangs and bits that I just go “that can never print supportless” and yet it always does.
I also love you just print 2 end pieces and can expand your wall endless if you have an empty printer for a bit.
Amazing as always!
I see you have a how to for putting together the King’s Keep, but would it also be possible to add a list with what walls were used?
https://www.printablescenery.com/2025/05/05/how-to-assemble-the-kings-keep/
I know the campaign is over, but I have a suggestion for future add-ons. A wall with a circular platform where a trebuchet or other defensive artillery could be placed would be so good.
Not to be a nag, but I don’t think they where placed on the walls historically speaking, since the “lob” why would you(it would only result in the enemy being able to target them), apart from cannons and ballista, so platforms for those with wall openings would be awesome 🙂
What does it mean by “Campaign ended – late pledges available”? The number of people who’ve purchased has slowly crept up since the campaign ended. Does that mean it is possible to unlock the Earl’s Round Tower? If so, how?
When the campaign ends, the special offer also ends, and the stretch goals stop getting unlocked.
The counter keeps counting the people who purchase. So it keeps going up even after the campaign ends.
But, in this case, as we are so close to the last one, let’s unlock the last one if the counter goes over it.
That’s incredibly generous of you. Thanks <3
Thanks Voodoo Fairy
thank you! awesome campaign as always, every time I just buy the all in and then have a look what it is 🙂
Never been disappointed and it always prints amazing!
strangely for the last strechgoal, I am mostly looking forward to the round turret that sticks out of it 🙂
That’s absolutely awesome, thank you very much!
Looks like we got everything but Earl’s… throw it in for fun?!? 😀
Yeah, Earls tower seems lonely all by itself.
we got more than most of us will ever print and paint. I respect the fact we fell 42 people short. a damn successful run but we can do better next time.
We fell 42 short of the 2000 goal, which represents $3780of missed revenue (at the campaign price of $90 for all 3 bundles). Divvied up amongst all the backers it would only be $1.93 USD apiece extra I AM JUST SAYING ;-P
Usually, the stretch goals stop getting unlocked after the campaign ends, but I agree with you, let’s unlock the last one if the counter goes over it.
Awesome, thanks! 🙂
That’s very kind of you!
You are a gentleman and a scholar!
First thing I’m printing is the sheep, 1000’s of them 🙂
Thank you everyone for an awesome campaign. Its been one of the most fun campaigns to work on.
Congratulations on this amazing campaign! Cannot wait for the file released and the future of system HEX ?
Congratulations! This has been a wonderful campaign and thank you all for the hard work putting it together. I’m so excited to build castles!
Matt, I am curious. Did you have any expectation that you’d hit the number of stretch goals that you have with this campaign? If your crews have been having to supply concept, design work, and drawings, for the stretch goals as they have been needed they must be working very hard and fast to pull this off. My hat is off to you and them for all your hard work.
Website not showing the full list of stretch goals :/ I am following along to see what all gets unlocked hahah.
They are there now, you must have refreshed while i was updating
Only 3 more stretch goals to go
Will there be an example build with a list of files needed to print? Like for example what is shown of in the promo. Would be nice with a simple recipe for reacreating it
We have a basic guide here that has a few examples, we also plan to show a new layout each time we release a new set of models. https://www.printablescenery.com/2025/04/16/introducing-systemhex-our-new-modular-building-system/
Any plans to do a Hex base set for the “normal ground” to fit in with the terrain?
Would help with the Hex theme if we had tile’s to integrate with.
We could look at that, do you mean that each wall is on a Hexagonal tile ?
Bit late for a response (work got in the way), but looking more at “floor” tiles to form a grid on a table that match the hex scale you are using. If there are tiles with an imprint that matches the walls and other pieces this would be a great bonus.
Sharp right angles walls would be so useful, happy to pay extra for them if we don’t make the SG. 😉
We now have those in the Stretch Goals
This looks amazing, congratulations on the success of this campaign/funding. There is a lot of models unlocked. I guess that means they need to be modelled and testet before release. Is there a guarantee that all will be delivered and what timeframe are we talking about? Do you expect to finish and deliver all models before January 2026 for instance?
All the models in the bundles are available for download immediately after purchase. The ‘free’ stretch goal models will be ready for download within 5 months of the campaign’s end. We will aim for approximately 3 per week on average.
Excellent, thanks! And again, great work. This is surely a goto collection for anyone building castles/strongholds etc in the foreseeable future ?
1800 backers and we have unlocked another stretch goal
I thought the Horse Shoe Walls were amazing, but now – Sharp Walls?! Star Forts are actually within our grasp??
Right-angle walls are also included for square tessellation.
Yeah, we really need the Sharp Walls… close…
Four more stretch goals have been reached, and the final items have been revealed.
I was not expecting more!! Great job too everyone!
Wow at all the extra Stretch Goals unlocked! One ask – if we get to the High Gate bridge – it would be nice to get straight steps in addition to the curved approach. I’d also really like to be able to create a full bridge if that’s possible with the modularity you would be planning (i.e. steps at both ends). Lastly as a cheeky extra suggestion in case you need another stretch goal – a round wattle and daub tower would be awesome!
+1 wattle and daub round tower. The timbered options are fantastic!
+1 for the bridge idea
Can you do right angled curved walls please, so many options with 60, 120, 180, 240 & 300 but the ability to have a nice rounded corner to a square castle without having a tower.
Sharp Walls have now been added to the Stretch goals.
It would be highly beneficial to include several variations of castle layouts, each accompanied by a detailed description of the individual components used. This will allow for a more informed selection process, enabling users to print only the pieces required for their chosen design. Ideally, this information should be presented in a clear, organized PDF document spanning several pages, with each layout scenario illustrated and annotated for easy reference. What do you think?
Yes thats a cool idea, we can make a new setup with layout plans with each new stretch goal release
When I went all-in on this a couple of weeks ago I was a little unsure if it was the best decision. $90 seemed a bit high and I’m not a huge fan of ruin models. Based on the sheer weight of stl stretch goals, though, I now have zero regrets. I’m really hoping we can get to the hoardings. I’m a big fan of the city of Carcassonne and these would get me pretty close to being able to print out a cool model honoring the city.
Awesome, thanks Kurt.
I agree, I almost fell like $90 is to good…almost. This one and the last one maybe me a lifetime customer. The after sale follow up is just too good.
48 hours, very exciting
Fingers crossed, I really like the Gazebo
Gazebo is within our signts
Gazebo is home safe 🙂
Yay! Fort Bruce is unlocked! Now let’s get those hoardings unlocked!
Yep!!
Yeah, Fort Bruce is realy nice, i’m glad, i’ts unlocked.
Some more ideas, Castle wall bathrooms, bathrooms, baths, catapults, ballista’s, wall buckets to drop things for defenses, ability to add a wood support to lock the doors from the inside from intruders, A training yard with training dummies, A Fishing pond, A Jail house, Market Place, Guard Checkpoint station, Toll Booth/Collection Point, Roads, medical center, Horse tie up points/Hitching Posts, outside rain water collectors, laundry area, bakery, Chimney sweepers, Warming Stations, Cart Station, brothels, Adventures guild, Signal towers, Flags and banners, Wanted community board, Fountains/Aqueducts, Cory Mine, Crops, Huge sundials, defensive U Shaped wall and gate, gryphon/hot air balloon landing tower, Merchant Hall/Storage, Stone Cutter building.
Thanks Alawen, awesome ideas!
Wall pieces with drawers, and shelves.
a tower modification so it is a dice tower, maybe an initiative counter on top of the wall, and this would make a AWSOME DM screen
Just saying 😉
Great ideas, thanks! Some internal library walls would be cool
I was thinking drawers fir real dice and shelves for mini’s 🙂
Hi, can you add a painting guide for the rooftops as well?
Will do, they are easy to paint, sprayed black and then a grey drybrush
I would love to see how these were painted!
We have a painting guide here https://www.printablescenery.com/2025/04/29/how-to-paint-castle-bricks/
Square Bastion Fort… go go go
This set is getting so big that we need it on terrain tinker to plan things right… right? 😉
+Yes… +1
Welcome to all the new backers! I’m unreasonably excited about getting a castle-compatible church,— and all the stretch goals ahead.
Hi! I have been trying to print the set but I run into some issues with my anycubic Kobra 2. I have some issues with the precision needed to make the connection and they don’t fit. Anyone has similar issues? What can I do to fix it? I run 0.2mm with default settings
New strechgoals, nice. But no livestock on the horizon. I’d hope for it…
Yes, more livestock, we need to add that next
?
Sweeet . the bridges are unlocked
Even more stretch goals have been added….
way too late for new suggestions but… I have ideas for some of the plug pieces.
1) I’d love a plug that was a secret door.
2)a plug that was a weakened wall that a dnd party could smash through.
3)a plug of said smashed through wall.
4) a plug with torches (ideally with the same light up options that the openlock has).
5) a plug with crossed swords for display on the inside.
6) plugs with book shelves again on the inside
7) a plug with the track connection for walls and buttress (this way you could make a second level piece a main floor)
and in the long long run open lock pieces that use the same plug tech
but amazing campaign so far.
I love these ideas, and I will add each of these door plugs to models in the stretch goals. Awesome 🙂
+1 for this
Can anyone share pictures of combined keeps? I am so thrilled to print and paint this but I have been trying to imagine if the different keeps can be combined into one big keep (king castle + queen quarter etc)
Damn I’m dumb, there is only the king castle available at the moment
So the concept drawing of the queens quarters looks like it has a hex bastion tower. In that case it could share that with the Kings Keep which has 3 of those to join up.
It also looks to have a square bastion tower, so that could then join to any building that has that also (barracks, quarters, banquet hall, square bastion)
You will be able to connect the queen’s quarters to the king’s keep either via the square or the Hex tower connection
Just bought the set and it looks amazing! Fingers crossed we make it to Fort Bruce – if not I would definitely be happy to pay a little extra for this and some other of the stretch goals!
Thanks Matthew, I think we should be able to make it, spread the world:)
Could a plug be added that is a little balcony? Could be used for the interior two story entry of the keep or on any exterior.
Yes, for sure, Millbury Tower comes with a wooden balcony. We could also add stone balconies to Fort Bruce
I could be wrong. Are there any stair for the interiors?
There should be interior stairs as part of the hex tower.
I am also another one to back the idea of an add on for us backers to unlock the rest of the stretch goals.
Yes, that could be an idea, but at the rate we are going, I’m sure we will unlock everything
The Round Bastion is now unlocked!
I know it’s a little bit late to add model ideas… but I had an idea for a tower with a pass through at the bottom. Like for a street to go through.. and maybe a portucullis… Rothenburg ob der tauber(city in germany) has some good examples. Also maybe some more fachwerk type buildings.
True, that would work great. We already have the standard square tower in the Barracks, and we want to make each model have unique, interchangeable components.
hello, with the banquet hall unlocked, does that also unlock a small square tower that’s in the picture? and i echo other comments about buying any of the stretch goals that dont get unlocked, more than happy for a stretch goal addition
Yes it includes the square tower in the picture. That will also be interchangeable with the square tower in the Barracks
GOOOOOOO more
We need SQUARE BASTION FORT 🙂
With such wonderful stretch goals being teased, if some were to not be unlocked would they be available as add ons?
Would it be possible to have a stone piece that would merge with the floor for the trap doors as an alternative to the wooden one. With the kings keep having three towers attached I think it would be a nice option to be able to limit player movement.
@Marc, do you mean something to ‘Block’ the trapdoor closed?
Yes, apologies I didn’t explain that very well. Also just realised that lvl 3 of the towers have a different floor texture so wouldn’t just have to be stone, but yes tiles to make it though they weren’t there.
Is it possible to get a 30 deg buttress adapter for the hexagonal bastion, so that we can make right angled wall corners, (or two 15 deg ones).
I want to make a square fort, but with the corner bastions having a door access on the inside, which means the square bastions wont work.
@Andrew, excellent idea. We could make two special 45-degree adaptors that work with the hex tower and match the size of the square towers for the square tessellation. I’ll also do this with the round towers
More buildings tied into the walls (like the banquet hall and barracks) would be great.
@CNC, yes for sure… They really make the castle.
Those are some truly impressive stretch goals! It’ll be a small miracle if we get to that Square Bastion Fort!
A miracle we shall have 🙂 We might need even more stretch goals
Looking at the castle gatehouse picture there are 2 towers, 1 on either side of this model – I’m trying to work out what these are – I did initially think these were castle keep towers but they have a roof rather than battlements – is one side a castle barracks model? Ive printed off the gatehouse and looking to have imposing roofed tours on either side and looking for suggestions. Thanks
Hi, yes, those are square barracks on either side of the gatehouse, one with the rectangular barracks attached, the other as just a square bastion. The gatehouse comes with the connectors for attaching to the square bastion with the tile roofs, as pictured too
There are already the “HEX Castle Wall Turrets”, but in the Middle Ages, there also existed for the defense of the castle walls with a temporary wooden construction called “Hoarding” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoarding_(castle)
The ruined vault is unlocked… next up, the Banquet Hall!
I guess, most of the models should print in 10mm too? Just scale them down? Sorry, that may be a stupid question. I just want to make sure…
Yes, they can be scaled down and printed at 10mm scale, you need to print them at .1 (fine detail)
I have tested a few items scaled down 33% (10mm warmaster) and the buildings themselves stack nicely and look good. However, the slot and groove sections fit super tight, so tight they pretty much won’t come apart after they get seated. For example, the buttresses for the hex keep or the wing walls for the hex gate that I have assembled will not be coming back apart again. I don’t even think you could get them assembled if you painted them first.
Larger sized prints haven’t been as tight, so seems to be related to scaling that small.
Yes they may get a little tight depending on the printer accuracy at 33% scale
Does the gatehouse currently have an option where it could function as a section of wall with an open archway, without necessarily needing a gatehouse on top? I am imagining a city with several sections of walls running through it, with archways separating quarters of the city.
Yes, there is a battlement option in the gatehouse that aligns with the existing wall battlements
I’m realizing it might be too late to ask this: any chance of getting a wall section or swappable plug/buttress that functions as a postern gate or “sally port” AKA a hidden exit?
The wargame “Pillage” takes place during the Dark Ages, between Late Antiquity and Early Medieval. Where wooden “Roman” strongholds evolved into stone castles. Having wooden walls in addition to the stone ones would be a huge draw for me!
Wooden Walls, Great Idea, I’ll add that to the list and hopefully it will make it to stretch goals… lots of new stretch goals coming this week 🙂
Is there any instructions or build guides on the combinations you can do?
Yes, we have a basic guide here: https://www.printablescenery.com/2025/04/16/introducing-systemhex-our-new-modular-building-system We plan to make a few more once we start producing the Stretch Goals
The Tower Bridge connectors are unlocked; we will also make a longer bridge that spans two hexes and one that goes up one level.
That’s fantastic! Thanks.
Loving what I have so far – Interested to know two things – the recommended way of pinning the doors (as in, so they can pivot), and
Where do I find butresses/wall terminators/wall/castle joiners?
Ah, found the butresses – Is there any wall terminator – for example I’ve printed the gatehouse – I’d like to print a simple/small cover-piece for each side to cover the smooth finish joiner piece. Basically a wall that ends immediately – kin to a butress covering a tower-joiner, but to close off a wall end.
An alternative would be an “under-construction” wall segment (left and right ends).
What I’m meaning is, if I haven’t space to display an entire castle, it’d be nice to show a non-ruined castle.
@ Keith, yes, for sure, that’s a good idea. A few other supporters have also asked for this. So we are making a ‘Wall-End’ piece that we will update into the ‘Castle Walls’ pack
I play the wargame “Pillage” in the Dark Ages, there were fortified abbeys or monasteries with surrounding walls (already present in Throne & Ash) but I would like to have an abbey church to integrate into the walls, and elements to complete the religious side: a cloister, a chapter house, a reserve or granary or warehouse as annex buildings.
Yes awesome stretch goal idea, Ill add it to the list
Thank you for all these builds for allowing me to play 2 of my favorite games: the oversized boardgame ‘Time of Legends: Joan of Arc’ and the wargame ‘Pillage’. It’s fantastic!
Hello. I ordered the whole deal but have no models in my download library. When can i expect them?
As I understand it, the models don’t appear directly in your download library, you have to now go back to the individual sets and order them from there at $0 for each.
@lubban, The models in the bundle are available immediately, the stretch goals will be produced and added to the bundles over the following 6 months, usually about 2 or 3 a week. Please email me at [email protected] if you have any issues downloading.
Hi and thanks for the Campain, the models are beautiful.
Will there be more figures for the livestock? Like a donkey, an ox, maybe horses or goats? That would be great.
Best regards
Thank you! Yes some more livestock options would be sweet, especially love horses as we have unlocked the stable. Some pigs too
Oh yes, I’ve forgotten pigs! They would fit perfect in the scenery.
So I wish donkeys and pigs.
Pigs and donkeys.. on their way 🙂
Woohoo
I like it
In the comments of “Livestock”, I proposed: pig and piglet, hen and rooster and chick, duck, goat & buck & kid, donkey, rabbit, goose, ram, bull, …
Jep, sounds good, but no anouncement until now.
So let’s hope, that all you wrote will be at 1650 purchased people, and let’s hope, that we reach this goal
But the stone barn is a good start. Let’s try to fill it 😉
The ruined versions of the buildings are great. But a collapsed ruined version of the walls (HEX-180-Castle-Wall-Ruined-L & R) with wooden scaffolding connecting them and replacing the collapsed stone wall with a temporary wooden one.
Great idea, we can definitely work on something like that
Im having trouble paying for this ($90 pledge) as keeps on saying cant contact bank, any idea??
Hi Bradley, I just checked the payment gateway, and orders are coming through OK. Please try clearing your cache
tried that and still no luck, will try again tomorrow
I really like the tower bridge idea. These are a great way to expand the central features (I.e. King’s Castle).
Can you add an additional, full hex, bridge option to this SG? Would love to use it to span a body of water or chasm.
or just span wide enough that a unit of rank minis can move underneath? like 150-200mm
Yes, we can include an extended version that spans a whole hex for sure, great idea.
Will the sewer wall connect to a river tile?
I can make some river sections butt-up precisely against the Sewer Wall
The HEX Castle King’s Keep starts to play around with an expanded floorplan, but I think its one shortcoming comes down to the fact that the only option for Level 1 HEX Towers (the “ground floor” level) only has a single option, with 6 “clips” for buttress/wall attachment points.
If there were variations for the Level 1 HEX towers to have less “clips” – say, 3 clips and 3 “door plugs” – these bottom floors could provide more variation, and not just for interior floorplans. It would provide options for doors at ground level. This could also be an option for the square towers: options with less “clips”, more “plugs”.
Wondering what other folks might think about this suggestion? I’m not sure if my wording comes across.
I like that idea. Maybe if you could draw a sketch and put it on the OpenLOCK group, we could see what the feedback is like
Ok! I’ll throw it up there. I made some sketches, this is a bit of an engineering and design rabbit hole, I can already tell. But it bodes well for future HEX releases I think.
Would love to be able to have a ground floor entrance or use the bar wall plug to make a prison cell.
I have already played around in blender, and sliced a level 1 and level 2 together so that I have a basement with 3 clips and 3 plugs.
This also makes the piece fit better on the resin build plate.
I then made a wall plug with the wall clip to add more flexibility
Wall plug with the v part for the buttresses is a great idea. Would this make the current level 2 be usable as level 1?
Would also make the center part of level 1 usable.
for level 2, yes it does, however the level 1 is about 5mm taller than the level 2 from the bottom. The internal floor lines up, just the base is thicker.
So using a level 2 floor as it is for the basement will have issues if you then want to join walls at higher levels as they wont line up
When I merged them I had to lower the bottom of the level 2 part to match, so that the top pegs would line up.
6 More stretch goals have been added! Sewer gate and a ruined version, castle hedges, tower bridge connectors and ruined versions, and a ruined castle vault
@Andrew, the windows click in and out nicely on my hex tower, and other connections are also good for me.
@Andrew, the windows click in and out nicely on my hex tower, and other connections are also good. There was a dude in the Printable Scenery group who had a similar problem as you, and it was the printer setting https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=711938151402762&set=pcb.2063705387438822
Anyone else having issues with the plugs being way too tight/big?
I just printed off a large batch… but to get them to fit I have to cut off the tabs and sand the bottom off it considerably (I am going to have to use the ryobi to get this done).
And if you push to hard they crack the bottom sill of the door frame.
Printed in Resin, ABS like.
Should I scale the Z axis to like 97% or something?
They fit perfectly for me – maybe check you printer settings
@Andrew Watts, check that your printer is set to ‘Print walls First’, this setting is usually on by default and is needed whenever you want accurate prints.’
I am resin printing, not FDM..thats not a thing
In my experience resin is very bad for getting a reliable mechanical fit, especially at scale. It warps and shrinks during the curing process ever so slightly, which can make openings smaller or larger, and the brittleness of the resin can lead to breaking or cracking as you have experienced. You are going to need to find the specific scaling that works best for you, and yes be ready to sand and cut. YMMV.
Printing on an FDM printer will be true to size, and the plastic has a “springiness” that means you can treat the objects more like LEGO, they can snap in and out many times. If you have the option to print this way you may have an easier time.
I don’t have the option for an FDM, as I have committed to a Resin set up.. its a good one and I have tuned it in quite well for printing terrain. The other pieces slot in quite well, it was just the door plugs.
I scaled some test plugs to 98% on the Z axis and they fit a lot better.
I think it must be because I am printing them upright with only a 10 deg tilt, so the supports underneath maybe causing the base of the plug to bulge a bit…. sideways clearance is perfect.
That’s impressive! What’s your favorite ABS-like resin for durability?
I am printing on a Anycubic M7 Pro, using their ABS-like PRO 2.0 resin
Using the recommended settings
Have had very little failures or warping in what I have printed with it so far, and have gone through like 40kg of the stuff
The square modules “Hex-Square-Bastion” are not compatible with the elements of “The Small Square Tower Mash Up” (Rampage Castle). Can we have the equivalent of The Small Square Tower-Battlement, -Hoarding, -Hoarding-Roof and Tower-Roof for Throne and Ash?
@Zagor, yes, we have some hardings for the towers coming soo in the stretch goals
This request may be an edge case… I have done several table bisecting siege battles (just one long wall splits the game table, sometimes an inner build too, but I am concerned about the wall. The walls run to the edge of the table. Sometimes just a gate in the center, sometimes towers (never at the edges though. What are the chances to get end caps for walls that make a finished standalone wall piece so I don’t have to end in a tower if I don’t want to? Towers have the buttresses and such to hide the interconnects, What piece caps a wall?
Also is there a non tower transition to a low wall from a taller wall? Am I not looking hard enough at the pictures and videos?
I guess this a two part request if these don’t exist 1) Standalone walls end caps and 2) a wall height transition piece to the lower height wall height.
Awesome requests Orionnoir
Yes, we do have the low-wall to high-wall ‘stairs’, they are in the Castle Grounds Bundle.
Also, yes to making the ‘End Caps’; other customers have also requested this. Its a great idea.
Next week, we will add ‘End caps’ to the existing wall packs as a free update, as it’s too small a job for a stretch goal.
+1 for end caps
Sloane has just posted up a new update: https://www.printablescenery.com/2025/04/29/how-to-paint-castle-bricks
Hey, just checking — do these models need supports when printing, or are they designed to print in place without any supports?
These models will all print without supports, except for the livestock that need supports touching the build-plate.
Suggestions :
– Stone and/or wooden walk bridges to link two towers (like https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fh620rfclo7381.png)
– Double crenellation walls (defensible on both sides of the pathway)
– Something to make a large bridge from the gate sections (not clear if it is feasible with the present components) or simply a larger archway in a wall to be able to make it.
– Wooden hoardings (like https://www.timeref.com/vr/assets/imgs/hoarding_front.png)
So planning future builds … couple of questions:
Are the Round Tower and Count’s Tower parts interchangeable?
What is the diameter of the Round Tower? It looks bigger than a single hex; it that correct?
Are the walls (with hoardings) shown with the “Round Tower” a full new wall set or are they just connector pieces from round tower to regular walls?
Hi, good questions. They’ve only just been unlocked so we haven’t had time to fully iron out all the measurements and designs. But the intention is, yes, the round tower parts are interchangeable with other similar-sized round pieces, much like the hex tower and square bastion pieces. And the hoardings are currently planned to be clip-on parts for the existing walls, but we’re working through all the plans
There will be three sizes of round towers, the smallest of which is the size of the Turrets. The largest is the Counts Tower and the Counts Keep.
Each tower will be interchangeable with other towers of the same shape, like the Square and Hex Towers. They will all have unique parts, which means you can make loads of combinations.
We are also working on some buildings that mix the different towers, so you have a round tower on top of a square tower.
Sounds great. Thanks.
Do the Plugs work for any model? For example can I use the Arrowslit plug from the Bastion on the Hex tower since there isn’t an arrow slit option?
Yes, totally can, they’re all interchangeable
Thank you again for the excellent quality.
Have castle elements (e.g., HEX Castle Keep Tower) that have battlements have the option to add a roof, and conversely, elements with a roof (e.g., HEX Castle Oval Bastion) have the battlement option.
Nice idea, thank you! Battlements on the bastions is great
For those who were asking if a Square castle is possible, we have added a update showing how to build square castles https://www.printablescenery.com/2025/04/28/how-to-build-a-square-castle/
Thanks for the build guide. Exactly what I needed.
I’m in. Lots of flexibility in this set. Time to donate some older models to make room.
Ask – can you add extended barracks crenellations to cover the entire roof.
Thanks CSC, great to see you here again 🙂 Yes, we could do that, that’s a good option to have
i’ve purchased this Bundle and absolutely love it. A Big Hall und customizable (from size Point of view) buildings (to build domitories or Panters/armories) in addition would be great. And a well.
Good Job!
Excellent, thanks Julia. We are working on that right now, and hopefully, we will add that into the stretch goals this week
Cant be certain from the photos bur are they playable interior?
Yeah they are indeed. With everything being modular as well, you can break things up if players are on different levels of a tower during combat for example.
And… another stretch goal unlocked !!!
Woohoo . small end towers, that was my request !! … will they fit on the low walls ?
Yes they will fit both the high and low walls
Are there any thoughts towards doing some alternative Corbels? Perhaps some gargoyles/grotesques?
Hi Kurt, each new building will come with its own set of corbels, one of them will be Gargoyles for sure.
I’m really enjoying keeping up with the progress of this campaign. The creativity, energy and enthusiasm of both the staff and customers is infectious. I love it!
Thanks Kurt
Another stretch goal unlocked, the stables …. onwards to the Barbican!
I know it is supposed to be earlier, but Cannon port options in the tower and turrets would be awesome. then you can also use it for things like port royale and pirates
And for the oval bastions 🙂
Yes, I could also make some cannons to fit, great idea
This is amazing! I’d love to see some more fantasy add ons like a wizards tower, observatory, orrery, etc
Though I have a lot of K/C done I can see enough specific pieces in this set I’d like to add that buying the “all in” is a better value that buying a-la-carte.
I have two hesitations other than the typical veteran STL printer’s concerns (storage, cost, and what to take out of the queue).
1) The hex connections – I can test this with the transition pieces added to K/C walls to see how PS has balanced a functional fit while limiting gaps. Thanks for the transition pieces.
The modular doors/windows – I have modular sets that, in application, are flexible in design but must be fixed after assembly (the fits are either too tight to move or so loose they must be glued/filled in place). This is not necessarily a bad thing but knowing what to expect is really helpful.
PS is a premium STL designer (I have most of your catalogue) so if anyone can/has actually made a functional modular set it would be you guys. Would you please post a demo-video showing 1) how modular are the doors/windows really (putting them in /taking them out), 2) how do they actually work and 3) all the modular options for windows, doors, and filler-walls currently revealed?
If these are truly modular a set of additional door/window/roof options would be interesting (i.e. 1) a balcony connecting two openings for hex and square or 2) a catwalk between two towers (probably built on the buttress slider so supporting beams can be added) or 3) anchor points for the Shadow Few rope bridge to run between tower openings) … just please make everything wide enough for “the modern dramatic minis” (minis on 25mm base but take up a bigger footprint after arms/weapons/capes are considered).
Thanks
CSC, if it helps, I’ve been printing out a lot of doors/swappable plugs, and so far I’m super impressed with the mechanical fit of these things. They snap in out out securely and satisfyingly, and the doors even slightly click shut and hold shut. I agree that a video showcasing this aspect would go a long way.
I have been printing everything on a Bambu A1 and have not seen any failures or needed to give any of the prints post-processing. The walls also slot together smooth.
Total opposite for me. I’m printing on a P1P and I basically need a hammer to get things to even consider sloting together. 🙁
It works fine for me, the Printed Square Tower on Ender 3 -f – my only gripe is that the buttress connectors are almost the same size as the wall connector, so it’s easy to forget that you need a buttress adaptor before the wall
I think I fixed the problem, I was having issues with my sharp corners bulging slightly from printing at either too high a speed or too high a nozzle temp. Regardless, the issue is overextrusion as the printer slows down on sharp corners, which the connectors for this set have, I think thats what was causing mine and your problems potentially.
Yup. Duplicate reply just for completeness. Slowed down outer and inner wall speeds, along with gap infill. Switched out outer then inner wall for print order too. No more fit problems.
I have only printed the wattle and daub plugs from the Kings castle, But I faced similar issues with them being too tight.
I had to sand the base of the plug and cut off the little tabs just to get them to fit.
I also run a scalpel around the holes underneath each tower level, as they seem to be a bit too snug, and I even broke edges off a couple of my first print trying to get it to fit onto the basement.
conversely, the hex slot on the windlass piece for the portcullis was too loose and the winding axle did not slot in snug.
All Printed in resin.
Super helpful. Thank you.
As I said … if anyone could do it it would be PS.
I’m getting a perfect fit for all the connections, windows click in nice and tight… printing on Bambu P1P
Printing on a P1S using Bambu Basic filament. Connections, Plugs, and doors are fitting snugly requiring just a little bit of finger strength for removal. This is after a coat of primer has been applied. So far I’ve printed a 120 degree wall, the entire barracks structure with some of the plugs being borrowed from the other structures. Originally, I was intending to glue the plugs in, but am now reconsidering how well it all mates together.
I am getting good snug but not too tight fits on mine so far.
Printing in resin with ABS like
I’ve been having difficulty with pieces being able to slide together together into the pre-designed slots, they seem too small, is there any tips you’d recommend to help fix this problem in future prints?
The connection has a .5 gap. This is the first comment that we have had about connections being too tight. We can increase the tolerance, but it might make the connection too loose for everyone else..
No problem! I was just curious if it was a problem with my printer or if anyone else was having a similar issue, I suppose I got my answer! Love the files, can’t wait to print more after I tinker with my printer a bit!
Same problem for me of nothing fitting. I’d have to get a hammer out and hit them to try to make the the pieces fit. Your video shows them just glide into the fits and that is 100% not what I’m experiencing. I’m printing on a p1p with their basic filament.
Are you getting elephants foot with any of the prints? Maybe they’re smooshing at the bottom layer for you?
I’ve double checked my prints and I’m seeing I have a bit of an elephant foot, I’m going to relevel the printer and check my slicing setting to see if I can fix it, thank you!
I think we had the same problem, and fixed it the same way. I slowed my outer and inner wall speeds down to 50mm/sec, along with the gap infill speed. I also changed the print order to outer then inner. I have great fits now with the connections. Pretty much just glide in now.
We’ve added some exciting new stretch goals to the campaign! Check them out and let us know what you think — we’d love your feedback!
Not sure if i missed it somewhere, I know obviously i can scale the models up or down, but do they start out as the same scale as your other products? (i hope this makes sense)
Yes, they are already compatible with King & Country, Ramshackle & Ruin. We have made the doors slightly bigger, so they will be OK for 28mm and 32mm. The brickwork and the walls all match King and Country. The doors will look slightly large when used with an actual 28mm mini, but this is acceptable with castles.
What about small gate and corners/corner towers to fit smaller walls from “Throne and Ash Castle Grounds”?
Yes, that would be easy to make, we have some small towers coming up, they will also work with the low walls
Square Tower Gate: You could think about an option to replace the bottom pieces of the square tower to turn it into a tower gate, with a gate on the front and back and wall connectors on the sides.
Roofed barracks: Make a second option for the top of the barracks as a roof. Nice detail would be a crow-stepped gable on the sides of the roof.
A square tower gate, that’s a great idea.
The roof for the barracks can be taken from the Wattle and Daub Living quarters, which will have a compatible roof
That’s great to hear about the roof!
Is the Barracks the only set with the square bastion?
If so, is it missing a square bastion flat parapet rooftop?
Yes, the Barracks is the only model with a Square Bastion at this stage. We have another square-based tower in the pipeline, It will contain square battlement tops that are compatible with the square bastion
More stretch goals unlocked today with Queens Quarters and Stables added
Do the livestock and tree models print well on an FDM printer, or do those require a resin printer? Thanks
Yes the trees print perfectly in FDM at 0.2 without supports. The Livestock requires supports touching build-plate, printed at 0.1
Amazing work on these! I would add my vote to wooden hoardings that can sit on the walls sections
Ditto on the hoardings! It would be cool to do a wall/tower combo fit for Carcassonne!
I would love some more shacks and Shanty’s for a slum with thatched roofs like Bella’s cottage!
Yes, we do have a couple more of those in the pipeline
Just had another idea, although this one would take a lot more work: How about some (modular?) scaffolding pieces? They could either be used for cheap additional battlement access and/or for repair work when combined with the ruined walls and buildings. If you want to go further you could even make a crane with those human sized hamster-wheels.
Excellent idea, slide-on-scaffolding that connects on a buttress connector – added to list!
This is my first purchase after months of eyeing your various great products. It’s the perfect combination of the large scale of the Norman models and the modularity of Ramshackle and almost even Clorehaven!
Most ideas I’ve had over the last few days have already been posted or even officially confirmed, but I do have one suggestion:
An additional variant of the base levels of the various towers where just one buttress connector is replaced with a standard wall plug hole. That way you could have a ground level entrance for towers, especially useful if they are meant as a way to access the walls, and if you also modify the base level of the HEX Castle Kings Keep by removing three corresponding internal buttresses, you could not only have the central basement be accessible, all the basements could also theoretically be interconnected via doors or archways. This idea should also work with the square bastion and similar buildings.
I like this idea, I’ll do a bit of testing today to see if we can make this work. will keep you posted
I noticed this morning that the internal section of the basement was not accessible. I thought that maybe a hatch could be added to the floor of the second-floor center section to make that accessible.
oooh that would be great also from a Resin printer point of view.
The basement hex tower piece is just that little bit too wide with hex connectors on every side for my build plate (Anycubic M7 Pro). I was trying to avoid cutting the piece if I could as I hate joining them later.
I had to tilt it to about 65 deg to get it to fit, which meant lots of supports. The upper levels were a better fit and only slight angling was needed (and recommended anyway)
Most Resin printers are rectangular in build plate, usually around 100-150mm wide, as opposed to FDM which appear to be square.
On that note, a guide article on best methods for prepping files for resin printing would be great (hollowing thickness, drain holes, support angles etc).
700 Customers and 25 free models unlocked so far, what a fantastic 1st week!
Three more stretch goals added! The “Square Living Quarters” in wattle & daub, the alternate “Ruined Square Living Quarters”, and the “Throne Room Decorations” interior scatter pieces.
Had another idea,
could we have an internal archway bridge / wall section.
Something that could connect 1st and second story internal buildings, such as the keep, to a wall fort or tower, but have clear access underneath.
maybe a bit wider with a parapet on either side of the walkway
Love it, great idea, thanks!
The HEX Castle Barracks has just been updated with the correct length corbel.
You’re amazing!
I have printed a massive amount of King/Country assets. There are several elements here I can see using to expand that set. To help with transitions would it be possible to add 90 degree curved walls (inside and outside curve) to both heights of the Hex Walls?
This is definitely something we could look into, nice one, thanks
Not sure if it would be a waste of time/effort but perhaps some floor tiles that could be used to fill out the grounds given the aesthetics are different from that of previous campaigns.
As I havn’t seen it on the collection of stretch goal suggestions (except it was turned into the throne room) I suggest modular rooms and roofs to use this system to build playable castle dungeons e.g. Castle Ravenloft.
Hi. Quick question about the King and Country adapter: do the pieces need to be scaled or printed as is? I believe King and Country is scaled at 28mm and Throne & Ash at 32mm. Thanks!
I printed them as is, and they match up perfectly to King and Country walls.
Thanks!
Hi there.. just backed to play some OPR Regiments seige games.
Suggestion for the wall parapets… can they be made wide enough to fit 2 ranks of square based minis? Like 50mm should be enough.
Maybe with an attachable overhang piece?
We can make some clip-on cantilevered Extension that extent the battlement walkways to 55 mm wide
That would be perfect, thanks!
Would you make inside and outside curved ones too?
Yes, we can make them for all the wall sections
The counts tower just unlocked 🙂
How about a prison?
Easy (?) variant suggestion: unroofed and unwalled bastions and/or wall turrets, with just battlements?
Yes, Un-walled bastions, great idea
How about stables and horses?
Excellent idea, I could make some stables that are placed against the walls in the Castle Grounds
can we get Hoardings for the walls please?
great idea, we could make some clip on Hoardings
Wattle and Daub Hex Tower unlocked. These levels and the roof are compatible with your existing Hex Tower.
Got the email and you had me at castle…..all in baby!
I love the paint scheme as is but plan on printing extra roofs for different color options so even some different styles roof options would be cool as a later add on.
I am also thinking some sort of great hall/throne room maybe it could be dual purpose with the chapel plan.
Posted the campaign video to FB will there be others to help spread the word?
Awesome, thanks Juleswi.
Yes, a large throne room would be a good idea; we have had a few requests for that so its on the list for sure :).
Would it be easy / possible to merge the walls and steps so there’s internal steps on the walls? Something like this: https://imgur.com/a/arrLiHW
Loving the models so far 🙂
Yes we could do that, no problem. Ill add it as an update.
Osberts Shanty now unlocked
Sixteen free models were unlocked in the first couple of days.
Also new models added to the stretch goals:
Smithy – Requested by Reyna Dodge
Wattle and Daub Cottages requested by Wallenstein and others
The blacksmith and everything else look great! I just bought an airbrush for faster painting too!
I would love to see a rampart for on top of the large round tower and a keep with a more house-shaped-roof, like often seen in Scottish and Dutch medieval castles.
Awesome ideas, Ive added them to the list
Do you guys have a painting tutorial up yet? I really like the looks of your painted pieces. My 4 printers have been going nonstop and i’m already filling a table with pieces. Would like to get ahead of some of the painting.
We can make one early next week. We used Skeleton Bone as a Primer & Base, and then various washes.
Would love to see a full tutorial. What brands do you use? I think the colors for the stones you picked out to highlight are top notch. I always did my stone in greys but I really love this color scheme and would definitely love to replicate it.
I’d also love to see a Chapel or Oratory, could be a second floor above an undercroft or crypt.
Awesome… Added Chaple to the list, definitely got to do this one as we have had a few requests for it. Also, I’m going to work on a Crypt of some sort 🙂
Hello.
As I’m not fantasy oriented, I’d like more civilian buildings that can also be used in the King and Country series:
– wattle & daub cottages
– smaller church, chapel
Excellent ideas, Chaple added to the list !
Wattle & Daub ‘Bellas Cottage’, & ‘Osberts Shanty’ just added to the stretch goals ..
14 Stretch Goals now unlocked, many more to come
Will these be added to terraintinker.com?
Thanks!
Terrain Tinker is more about OpenLOCK, we are going to meet with Ryan at some stage after the campaign to talk about a dedicated SystemHEX planner using the Terrain Tinker tech
Great pieces as always. No way I would miss this campaign. My suggestion is tents in medieval/middle ages style.
Thanks, Hakan, I’ve added the suggestion to our list
Check out the new blog by Sloane Dougherty; it gives a good explanation on how SystemHEX works
Hey, long time fan first time backer.
I think others may have mentioned similar to this already.
But I would love a pdf or quick sample videos that show you each of the pieces in action to give a better visual understanding.
I have just started on the first two levels of the Tower Keep
Hi Marc, great to see you back.
Yes, for sure. A video of each model pack, showing how they connect, is a great idea. I’ll see if I can do that today
Great looking models and lots of good suggestions from people.
My request isn’t for more buildings, but rather some parts lists and example builds?
It’d be really useful to see a few different towers and which components were used to make each one. I don’t know about others but when it comes to fully modular buildings I often draw a blank as there’s too many options to choose from so “pre-made” starter setups would be really useful – for me and my customers!
Thanks!
Hi, Dungeon Tokens. It’s good to see you here again. We can make a set of layouts and then show the Top Down SystemHEX view on how they connect
Great idea and models as always.
Been backing your campaigns for years but never saw anything about this one – just a video on Facebook (which had no link to the campaign). Had to go searching for the link. Humbly suggest you always a link to the campaign and also send an update on the Kickstarter campaigns about the new release (if you can) so other previous backers can see the campaign .
True, good point. I get over-excited about the models and forget about things like that 🙂
Wow! Backed as soon as I saw this! Still printing Ramshackle and Ruin but couldn’t pass this up! As far as my suggestions go, I second AT’s thoughts and would include:
animal pens/ stables for keeping feed animals in during a siege
a well or small stream as a source of water for a siege
emplacements for cauldrons, mangelin’s, catapults, trebuchets, etc. (and those defenses) for maybe a siege…
a wall-based interior smithy for weapon and armor repairs
a big arsed drawbridge for those moats we want to cross and the associated gate house to house it
and finally, a giant tower… think 18″/.5m tall, massive base… because it’s fantasy and I’m thinking about a second printer.
Please, keep up the good work, the customer support on the Ramshackle campaign is why I instantly bought into this one!
Awesome ideas Reyna, Ill put them on the list
Long ramp sections to lead to an elevated gate. Extensions for the bottom of walls to make them higher.
I need to make a Helms Deep now!
Yes, … actually we have been working on that one, great minds think alike
How about some pieces that allow you to change the wall elevation as it flies up or down rolling hills. Think Great Wall of China.
You can do that with the steps, I was going to show this in a video.
We will be adding 6 new stretch goals tomorow
Can you please provide round or oval towers suitable for the low wall? The high walls will be very long to print, just like the towers, I think I’ll rather focus on a version with low walls.
Yes, for sure, that’s a cool idea. I’ll update both the ruins and non-ruins in the products. Make sure you’re subscribed to model updates, and we will notify you via email when they are ready. https://www.printablescenery.com/my-account/email-subscriptions
Thanks a lot
The round keep has just unlocked; this is the large round tower that we had a lot of requests for in the Country and King Campaign
Looking great! What I would highly suggest ist rooms / roofs to make a big castle with many interior rooms e.g. for Curse of Strahd etc..
Yes we could make some modular room expansion easy enough
Ideas for stretch goals:
Clip on hoardings
Climbing ivy
Latrines
Wash house
Double width walls/twin parapets
Jousting arena
Wall T sections
Wall to tower arching bridges
Gargoyles
Awesome ideas, they are now on our to-do list
Is it possible to produce a set of adapters so that this system could be connected to a lot of the Openlock system?
Hi AT, yes good idea. This system is more about connecting large structures together. OpenLOCK is about creating Grid Based Structures. Ill have to check about how we go about doing that. Seems feasible though
May I suggest that you post an update about this to your past Kickstarter campaigns? I only found out about this project because I got an e-mail about the Norman Fort Walls update 🙂
We are drawing up more concepts to add to the stretch goals any ideas will be appreciated
Six Stretch goals are now unlocked !!! Thank you everyone 🙂
I have the King and Country printed. I saw the transition pieces atted to the Norman Fort Walls. Two questions:
1. Are the transition pieces standard Norman Walls to Short Throne Walls?
2. I have printed most of King and Country; can you show me how these sets co-mingle or is this really a separate set?
Thanks.
Hi CSC, Yes, the Steps in the ‘Throne and Ash Castle Grounds’ transition between the tall walls and the short walls. Also, the buildings have swappable doors on the first floor that match the short walls on King & Country.
You should also receive a free update email with your Norman Wall purchase that gives you the adaptors for the SystemHEX Walls
Looks incredible. Can’t wait to start building. Any plans on integrating into Terrain Tinker? Realise they’re not OpenLOCK, but similar principle. This set will fill many gaps and apply to many varied wargaming systems. I’m glad their are connector pieces for other sets. Well done, and thank you.
I would love to make a Terrain Tinker-style app for SystemHEX. I’ll have a chat with Ryan from Terrain Tinker and see whats involved.
What historical period or fantasy genre did you design this for? My forte is not medievals but I am learning more about the eras. This looks to me like 800 Europe or Crusades to Europe in 1600s (and maybe up to WW2 since Europe takes care of these types of treasures).
Yes, this is Middle Ages Europe. We wanted to make a gamified version of Carcassonne but with the ability to build as wide a variety of Castles as we could find on the internet
Thank you. Good to know that my memory from being stationed there in the 70s is still intact! ?
I would love to see a banquet hall: with optional windows of stained glass/rose windows, ruins, and maybe even “evil/monstrous” swap-outs
Excellent idea, Ill add that to the list for sure 🙂
Just because I know this is going to be asked 1000 times.
Will there be a pice to convert the Norman King and country pieces to this system.
I Imagine this would be easier for the walls than the buildings but it would be great to have an answer one way or another.
Yes for sure, there is an Update to the Norman King and Country walls coming out today, This will include the adaptor to connect to the system
ok, now i am in 🙂
Great you are making the sets compatible!
The Norman Fort Walls and the Ruined Norman Fort have been updated with Throne and Ash transition walls
Are you planning any painting tutorials/guides?
Yes, we include the paint color guides in the products… I should add that info to the campaign
I’ve been using the King and Country painting guide and the technique using the wall putty filler has worked great. It’s a slightly different look from what you see in the demo videos here, but the finished product looks great. Look for it in the Knowledge base under the category: Finishing and Painting. It’s a little ways down now, but there are two tutorials https://www.printablescenery.com/2022/08/11/painting-realistic-stone/ and https://www.printablescenery.com/2022/11/03/how-to-paint-medieval-textures/
Amazing stuff, backed as soon as I saw it.
Awesome, thanks Michael
1st Stretch goal reached
Comments section is now live
This looks fantastic Matt, as you’re asking – I’d love to see some large(wide) round towers about twice the diameter of current King & Country Royal Gate Towers
