Description
Grand Duke Percivell gazed out over the keep he was gifted to lord over. Standing at the edge of the King’s realm, the keep was a first line of defense. Much was in disrepair, but one thing stood as a testament to all the challenges beset upon it: the mighty walls. They had stood for generations before, and they would stand for generations more. With a smirk, he turned on his heel and walked back inside. It was then that he heard the distant drums of war.

Rui Gasparinho –
Are you considering making these walls and buildings compatible with the Norman King campaign? An adapter of sorts?
Joanne Boorer (verified owner) –
Hi Rui, Thanks for reaching out. I have just updated the Norman Fort Walls and the Ruined Norman Fort Walls with Throne and Ash transition walls.
Shane Washer –
What are the dimensions on the walkways?
I see the overall dimensions of the piece in the image gallery, but I’d like to know the size of the walkway specifically, to know what base size would fit there at the default dimensions
Thanks!

Hi Shane, The Walkways are 30mm.
N W (verified owner) –
I scaled the models down to 28mm versions, (*.875) and I have extremely tight tolerances on the walls. Is that by design? Trying to recalibrate my printer now, but I never had that problem before.
Matt Barker –
You probably don’t need to scale down to 28mm unless you playing with true 28mm minis like Bolt Action. The Castle is already compatible with King & Country and Ramshackle & Ruin. We have made the doors bigger; they will be OK for 28mm and 32mm. The brickwork and the Walls all match King and Country. The doors will look slightly large when used with an actual 28mm mini, but this is acceptable with castles.
Matt Barker –
They should fit with a 5.mm clearance, this allows then to slide out with out any force but holds them rigid enough that you can keep the SYSTEM HEX tessellation

works now, thanks 🙂 I had too much flow – after tuning it now fits perfectly even at 87.5%

I’ve printed the walls in resin, but the pieces won’t fit together. I’ve been trying to sand down the connectors to get them to fit together, but without much luck so far. Any suggestions?
Joanne Boorer (verified owner) –
Hi Mark. We have had a customer point out link to what resin settings work best in the comments section of the campaign. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=711938151402762&set=pcb.2063705387438822

Thanks Joanne. I had a look at those settings and that discussion. The discussion was for PLA though, so not relevant to resin. I shall persevere!
Joanne Boorer (verified owner) –
My apologies. If you comment on our Facebook page and or comment on the campaign page one of our customers who is resin printing should be able to point you in the right direction.

Would it be possible to release a version of these (any of the other hex grid castle parts) with more clearance on the connections? When I print them with the listed settings the castle walls do not slide together without incredible force even after sanding. Or are there other settings I need to update for my printer (PLA)? I don’t have Facebook to look at the above post.

Make sure you have print outside walls first set to on. You will need this for anytime you want to print accurate models.

Was there any experimentation or has anyone else tried printing the castle walls in FDM using Infill of even less than 10%.
Miguel Angel Cubillo Casado (verified owner) –
Will you create a 180 female-female adaptor?
Sloane Dougherty –
Hi, could send us a picture of what you mean to [email protected] cheers

Printing using the Orca slicer I keep getting errors that state there are floating regions in the model and I need to add supports. Any suggestions?
Joanne Boorer (verified owner) –
These walls are fine to print using no supports.
Thomas Toth (verified owner) –
Any suggestions for making the walls taller? These walls are great, but they are all the same height. How would I go about creating a wall 1/2 height higher, or even double the height of the wall, without blowing proportions. I could just increase scale in the slicer, but that throws off all the slot and groove connections…any ideas or suggestions?

I have an issue where I looped 120 degree wall sections around from one side of the keep I am making (using a combination of the King’s Keep and Queen’s Quarters merged) to the other in order to create a courtyard, and wound up with a male-to-male abutment creating a gap. I tried to find an adapter for that, but came up blank. Am I missing something, or is that form of adapter not out yet?

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Can you please send a photo of your layout to [email protected] so that we can assist you.

Quick Question – I have a dual head Ultimaker printer and I think it would be cool to be able to print the Wood Walkways in Brown and the Walls in Grey – any chance you could provide Walls and Wood Walkways in two separate files – that I could merge together?
Joanne Boorer (verified owner) –
We will look into this but maybe a huge task as we would need to do this for the whole range of products.
dweathin (verified owner) –
Thanks for the feedback – if you could do it just for the walls this would be appreciated – but understand how big the task would be for the whole range of products – although I think it would be awesome : -).
