Dwarf Ironclad ideas

I am currently in the process of printing and assembling the dwarf ironclad. I really like all things dwarven and this will be impressive.

Though I think the model is great I am just curious why the interior had to be solid? Seems like it could have been left opened like a building. Then have accessories such as gun decks and machinery or just to have access for battles in the hold.

Oh, and how about a ironclad submersible based on the civil war designs?
