13 questions for Winterdale Tavern

  1. harris2181

How big of a build plate do you need for the tavern?

    • Matthew Barker

You can print the tavern complete on a 150mm build plate, It also comes in smaller parts allowing you to print on a 100mm buildplate

  2. Carlos Tapia (verified owner)

version 5.6 has 4 folders and one of them is WDTavern 5.2 – A-bigparts Scaled Down. If I wanted to print them for 28mm, how much do I need to upscale them? What scale are they scaled down to?
    Thanks!

    • Matt Barker

The Tavern is scaled to 28mm, the smaller parts folder was due to the original model being scaled slightly too small

  3. rfdinizpimentel

Do they have some guides or lockers to lock floors and roofs to avoid them slipping off?

  4. cale.lebl (verified owner)

Are there any future plans to update the 2nd story of the Tavern to have a texture on the floor?

    • Sam Campbell

Yes there are plans to do this in the future.

  5. aarondh1

Are there plans to add access to the second floor?

    • Sam Campbell

We have this in ideas for improvement on this model.

  6. Voodoo

Just wondering if there was an update about the textured floors and if pins/guide holes were going to be added to this model. (I don’t care for the filament alignment of the floors). Thanks. I was thinking of adding the buildings bundle to my collection. Cheers!

    • Sam Campbell

We’re working on updating this model soon and developing a ruined version as well.

6.0 just barely doesn’t fit on a Prusa MK3. If you release a new version would you scale it down just a tiny bit?

    • Nicholas Jebson

Hey Printablescenery8, The full shell tavern was generally put on for people who were scaling down anyway. I often just print the small printer files and put them together at the end (it also means i can scale it up ever so slightly).

  8. printablescenery8 (verified owner)

I’m not sure what you mean by “full shell” but I’ve had pretty bad luck with both trying to scale all of the pieces and with printing the “small printer” files because the buildings don’t fit together as well as the non-cut versions. I imagine I’m just not good at it which is why I hoped the pros would take it on.

    • Nicholas Jebson

Hey Printablescenery8. By a full shell I refer to the uncut version of the Tavern. I will talk to Sam and see what we can do, but in the meantime I have checked on my slicer and you can scale it down to 92% to fit nicely on the build plate.

I am printing out using the small printer option. I noticed that the separate pieces have alignment holes on the sides to help keep them straight when putting them together. Any advice on what to use as pegs when putting them together? I thought that filament would work but it is too small.

    • Nicholas Jebson

Generally, the pins are sized for 1.75mm filament, though if for some reason this is the hole is too small you can use a paper clip to do the same thing, just stretch it out and clip off how much you need from the straight sections.

  10. joephelps (verified owner)

The holes actually are bigger than the 1.75mm filament.

    • Nicholas Jebson

This will have been to compensate for different filament tolerances. Most of the time they are sized at 1.8 to allow some play when the filament is printing. if people have well-tuned machines this can lead to a slight gap.

I’m printing the small printer version and I’m having issues with slicing lv1 A. Everything else has worked fine, but that one file keeps crashing my slicer. Any suggestions?

A lot of people are having issues with Cura sine version 5.0. What helps is to turn the model on the buildplate.
Have no issues slicing this part in Cura 4.8 and Prusa slicer.

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

I was able to slice this part in both Cura 4.8 and Prusa slicer. Try turning the model on your buildplate.

The ol’ rotate it 90 degree trick… wild. That worked! Was able to slice on Cura 5.2.2 no problem once I rotated it. Thanks for the help!

Out of curiosity, does the modularity mean that this Tavern can be made bigger with other Winterdale pieces? Interested in adding more floor space on the ground floor if possible

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

Not at this stage but will put you idea on our list.
