The Flying Dhow is rigged the same as the original Dhow (as pictured below). You will need 6mm (1/4 inch) and 4mm (3/16 inch) dowel for the masts and black elastic string for the rope. You may need to sand the ends of the dowel to go into the mast holes easily.

6 questions for Flying Dhow

The Flying-Dhow-Back-v1.0 stl doesn’t seem to have the guide holes that the other pieces do. Is there a reason for that?

    • Sam Campbell (verified owner)

      Thanks, we’ll get this updated.

I am thinking of hanging al the flying ships from the ceiling when not in use on the table. a decorative plug for the stand hole would be great, and if you are really in a good mood a hanging system would be more then epic.

It’s an interesting idea, we’ll add it to the suggestion list.

Is there any plans to add an interior deck plan that you can print? Like the dwarf airship. I know it would only be small, but it would be cool.

    Love the model.

It’s something we could look at doing in the future.

    Hi!

I’ve purchased the flying dhow, and I’m about to start printing it (Prusa i3 MK3S).

I’m using Cura, and enabled supports on the build plate only. Even though I can tell that’s going to be enough supports for most pieces, I’m worried about the main big “Back” piece, as it appears to have some overhangs that cannot be reached with supports from the build plate only…

Does it print well anyway? What’s your experience with this (massive!) model

    Thanks!

Should I use tree or everywhere supports?

    • Nicholas Jebson

generally turning on supports touching buildplate is fine, though the only piece you should need it for is the central section with the wings out.

    Hi guys,

There does not appear to be a rigging diagram for this ship which shows how many of each rigging part is required, and where it is placed?

    Could you sort please?
