6 questions for Rampage Pre-Configured Castle Gate and Walls

  1. michael higdon

will this fit on the monoprice select mini ?

    • Matt Barker

      Yes, most of the Castle Parts are 2-inch x 2-inch x 2-inch

  2. colinjkevans (verified owner)

Any chance we could in the future see a complete battlement with a hatch similar to what the towers have, so there’s route from the second level to the third in the gate tower?

    • Matt Barker

Yes that’s a great idea, I’ll add it to the update queue

Not so much a question as a comment.
I just finished printing this (looks great, and printed very easily), and the configuration of doors seems odd.
    1. There is a large main gate, but it leads into a room with only small doors leading off it, so that big front gate isn’t very functional.
    2. L2 opt2 has doors on the sides, even though there’s no floor.

  4. mrebivens

Maybe a dumb question… but is there a slot in the battlement for the portcullis to be able to be hoisted through?

    Thanks,

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

Yes, there are several options of battlement included in this zip file. Which includes a version for the portcullis to go through.

This is my first attempt at a piece like this so I have questions.

    1) Why 3 different drawbridges? Which one(s) do I need? What’s the difference between them?

    2) What’s the difference between the complete gate pieces and the castle gate ones (each has a L1 and L2)? Do I use both or one or the other?

It would be helpful if the different pieces were explained better in pretty much every piece offered here. I find that to be a bit lacking.

      Hi Ron!

Thanks for getting in touch with your concerns.
The three different drawbridge files is actually the same design. You’ll see the larger file size one (labelled AB) is textured on both sides, whilst the other two (A and B respectively) are textured only on one side. AB is provided for customers wishing to print in resin or to stand the model on its end and print it in one go. Where as the other two files, with a flat side each can be printed on an FDM printer then glued together to make a complete drawbridge.
You’ll see in the reference image that come with the download of the files that the Complete Castle Gate has a larger doorway to exit the gatehouse than the Castle Gate. The entire gatehouse is two stories high so if using the complete castle gate you’ll use those two (as the doorway is higher than one story) or, if you decide to use the Castle Gate with the single story doorway you can choose which level 2 option you prefer; with no floor, solid floor, or with one or two access hatches.
We try to provide as many different options as possible so you can get the most out of the product, though understandably sometimes it can be a lot to take in.
If you haven’t checked out Terraintinker.com I’d highly recommend it. It is browser based software that is used for OpenLOCK pieces where you can assemble the model digitally first before printing it. For me, its been a great help in putting together different buildings and in the near future we hope to add the Rampage Castle pieces to it. Even better if you’ve already purchased the files on your Printable Scenery account then it will be in your TerrainTinker account when it’s available.

I hope that has cleared up some of your issues 🙂

what is the best way to print this on a elegoo mars 2 pro printer? i tried standing it on it’s end and adding supports and it seemed to bow on me. can it be printed flat on the bottom with no supports?

    • Jo Boorer (verified owner)

We have no experience with the Elegoo mars 2 pro and have not tried printing this part in resin so not sure what to suggest. Maybe try an Elegoo Mars forum.
