Hay dude this is how I got that look. I first primed it with Army Painter leather brown and then simply dry brushed it with Army Painter Arid Earth.
I painted the whole balloon that way and then washed the ropes with Army Painter Mid Tone.
Hope this’ll be of some help.

Ah yes Typhus Corrosion, also known as the brush killer. I have a real love hate relationship with that technical.

If you’re short for time have you considered doing the “burnt out building” look? All you got to do is get the outside looking ok then take to the inside and bits of the outside with a heavy dry brush of black.
    Quick and effective.

Weathering with using a wash is really effective. I’ve also used a bit of flock on the flat surfaces to give it a overgrown look, you just don’t want to use to much looks strange when you do.

Army Painter does silver primer, you could always just use that, give your ships a bit of a wash afterwards just to weather them a little bit Best of both worlds.

Building with P.S stuff is a little like LEGO all you need a bit of practice and bit intuition to get to that point where you can just build stuff without really thinking about it. Yeah the paint job is quite nice I like the colour the stones weathering.

It does have potential, but I’m not sure how that type of setup would handle things like players leaving the area you’ve put together, or your players not sitting directly in front of the thing, also if you had it setup so you had walls on all four sides you would probably have to stand or have a very low table to be able to see down in to the playing space. Would be good for showing the inside of a room like a bar or something though.

A prison would be good I’d like it to have a bit of an Alcatraz feel to it. What would also be good for the fantasy stuff would be some big heavy looking reinforced wooden doors with grills about head height.

@peter2 I personally just use house paint that’s been colour matched to citadel paints.
If you’re looking for a brand of of hobby paints that are Good quality and cost effective, you should try Army Painter or Vallejo.

I would like to see some more scatter tarain that you could make a mor interesting forest floor with like rock formations or perhaps large crystal formations with big mushrooms growing around them (keeping in line with the elvish theme). You could make them flat topped just big enough for a 28 mm base.

would it be posable to make a keel for it with enough space inside so it could be motorized? maybe even just enough room for something as simple as one of those rubberband motor things you used to make as a kid, you can make some pretty heavy duty ones too from memory.

Thanks for the help Matt Barker. that’s going to be much a better set up than the one I’m messing around with at the moment.

I do. If you look at the pic of the outside rear of the building it gives a good indication of what the inside wall is like (I painted the outside wall the same as the inside wall)
